Silver and Gold Years are the Icing on the Cake in Alabama

Dothan, Ala. Senior Aides are commended for their dedication and community service.

Approximately 90 senior workers, all sporting silver and gold ribbons, gathered at Southeast Alabama Medical Center on May 11 for a celebration and quarterly Senior AIDES meeting of the Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission in Dothan, Ala. Refreshments were provided by the Medical Center, and Senior AIDES Project Director Barbara Knight provided a cake decorated with silver and gold icing.

On hand to commend the participants for their dedication and community service were Houston County Chairman Mark Culver, SAMC Director of Human Resources Keith Prutzman, SEARP & DC Chairperson Julie Jones and Executive Director Fred Dykes. Nurse Practitioner Trinette Bell offered tips on mental wellness and therapeutic activities for those with parents or family suffering from Alzheimer's.

Former Senior Aides Mr. Harold McInnes and Ms. Melba Gunter also attended, both of whom found employment after training under the program. Mr. McInnes expressed his appreciation for the assistance he had received.

In addition to the quarterly meeting, Knight also held a host agency supervisor luncheon on May 26. Thirty-eight agencies were represented, and of those, ten received certificates of appreciation for hiring Senior Aides into permanent positions.
