West Alabama’s Seniors Honored at Appreciation Day

Northport Mayor Harvey Fretwell came out to celebrate in person with West Alabama’s seniors at the annual Senior Appreciation Day, held on May 13th in Tuscaloosa, AL. Sponsored by the West Alabama Regional Commission (WARC) Area Agency on Aging and located at the Bryant Conference Center, the event drew over 900 seniors and included entertainment, vendors, prizes, and even a musical rendition of the song “YMCA” by the Junior ROTC. Senior Aides from Project Director Pam Erickson’s West Alabama Regional Commission Senior AIDES Program attended the event and helped serve refreshments and lunch.

Two of WARC’s Senior Aides were also honored in a recent newsletter published by the Payne Lake Recreation Area for their work in Payne Lake’s welcome center. Another Senior Aide, Kitty Corbett, recently received her GED degree and was selected for the National Adult Education Honor Society because of her high scores.
